Your starting point is located in Chiny at Pont Saint-Nicolas n°1 B-6810 Chiny, at the entrance to Le Canada campsite. For more convenience, follow the signs for Camping Le Canada.

When you arrive at the starting point of the Batifol kayaks at Pont Saint-Nicolas in Chiny, we will help you board your kayaks. Life jackets, watertight containers… are available free of charge on request. When you arrive at the Lacuisine or Chassepierre landing stage, a member of the Kayak le Batifol team will take you back FREE OF CHARGE with one of our buses (2 with 8 seats and 1 with 24 seats) to your starting point where your vehicle is parked.

Your personal equipment: Closed-toed shoes (old sports shoes, or specific shoes that can get wet), sunscreen, hats or caps, sunglasses and retaining cord, change of clothes, towel, water and snacks for the most small or large.

Our animal friends are welcome. In a 2-person kayak you will have enough space for him to accompany you for free.

The rivers are classified from I to VI according to their technical difficulty. On the Chiny-Lacuisine or Chiny-Chassepierre section, the difficulty does not exceed class I (easy). This classification is established for a normal flow, so it is important to carefully check the water level and the speed of the current.

All children are welcome.

A child under 6 can sail for free in a 2-person kayak with 2 adults. Life jackets are available free of charge on request

Semois sailing conditions may change. Under certain conditions (heavy rain or prolonged drought), the Semois may be closed to navigation:

The water level is too low: the Semois is closed to navigation if the average for the last 72 hours is less than 1.5 m³/s

The water level is too high: the Semois is also prohibited for navigation if the average for the last 72 hours is greater than 31m³/s = Danger

To check the level of the Semois, we advise you to go to the official site: http://kayak.environnement.wallonie.be/public/home#/sections_121 (then choose SEMOIS/ and then La Semois, from Chiny to the Linglé bridge. You will then see the route appear on the map. If it is green, navigation is authorized. If it is orange, the Semois may be closed. S 'it's red, navigation is prohibited.

In season, the Pont Saint-Nicolas departure area also has a swimming area with a water slide, a panoramic terrace overlooking the Semois with bar and snacks, pétanque court, sandpit and small plain of game. It is also the ideal starting point for beautiful walks or bike rides. So you can have a good time there while waiting for the kayakers.
